Realization: Eyes Open to Ever-Present Light

Imagine embarking on a journey through an expansive, dark warehouse filled with furniture. Your task is to traverse from one end to the other without any visible light. As you stumble, trip over unseen obstacles, you attribute your difficulties to the warehouse’s unforgiving conditions – the darkness and obstructive furniture.

However, what if the darkness isn’t due to the absence of light in the warehouse but because you’ve unknowingly kept your eyes closed? Opening your eyes doesn’t rearrange the furniture, but it fundamentally transforms how you perceive and navigate through it.
In this metaphor, the warehouse symbolizes life, and the furniture signifies the experiences we encounter. The darkness mirrors our closed eyes – a misunderstanding of the true nature of these experiences. We mistakenly believe our struggles stem from the external world, the obstacles within the warehouse.
Eyes Wide Open
But once we open our eyes, we realize we’ve not been navigating in darkness. The warehouse, in fact, has always been filled with light – the ever-present light of Universal Consciousness, the infinite power of Divine Mind. This light doesn’t alter the layout of the furniture or change the nature of our journey. However, it profoundly shifts our experience by providing the clarity to navigate our path with greater ease.
Realization, or the lifting of consciousness, is akin to opening our eyes. We become aware that our feelings about the furniture, our circumstances, are not triggered by the external world but are reflections of our own thinking. The Universal Consciousness is always shining, ceaselessly illuminating our experiences. It’s not the warehouse or the furniture that changes, but our understanding and perspective.

1. Can you recall a moment when you ‘opened your eyes’ to see a situation more clearly? How did that shift your experience?
2. How would realizing that the true source of your experience is your own thinking affect your navigation through the ‘warehouse’ of life?
